Successful film styling can either hit you in the face with creativity and genius, or be so on point you don't even realize the actors have been dressed. Stylists have the ability to bring the message of a film to life without the audience recognizing their intention. Take a look into three films that will blow your mind.

Grand Budapest Hotel

The Grand Budapest Hotel centers around a fictional Eastern European hotel in 1930, but its flawless fashionable execution feels like reality. Featuring a vibrant color palate centered around the iconic purple uniforms gives the film a congruent foundation while allowing room for elaborate features to distinguish each characters personality and status. There is something to be said about a movie that can be explained on mute. It is the costumes that play a vital role in creating the visually captivating and immersive world that transports its audience to an era of elegance and charm.

James Bond: GoldenEye

Bond followers call this one the nautical Bond. It is no secret that Pierce Brosnan could look good in anything (or nothing at all), but this take on James Bond was executed perfectly. While Tom Ford typically dresses my favorite Bond stars, it was Brioni that handled all suiting in this movie. The classic nature of Bond shines bright, while highlighting exciting accessories like the Omega Seamaster watch, funky socks and pocket squares alike.

Alice and Wonderland

Colleen Atwood's 2010 win for best costumes in Alice and Wonderland was incredibly well deserved. Remaking a classic leaves an artist prone to the harshest criticism. Not only did Atwood draw eloquently from the original movie, she inspired the looks with a modern flare, taking advantage of the advances in technology to convey a beautiful image. She included the foundation of Victorian fashion with an undertone of Burton's signature gothic style. The show-stopping look of the Queen of Hearts perfectly captures her whimsical grandeur through voluminous silhouettes and richly embellished details. This film showcases gives a costumer the perfect opportunity to play with excess. Atwood flawlessly devoured this challenge and provided viewers an unforgettable moment in fashion. This movie could serve as an example for inspiration over imitation.
